Introducing examples of failure-prone drawing shapes in the prototype and design of metal press forming. Illustrated explanations by shape!

We will introduce the key points for designing metal press parts that do not fail. For parts with a drawn shape that has a distance to the outer contour, it is necessary to increase the material dimensions to ensure the outer dimensions after drawing, which requires many processing steps, leaving traces of wrinkles corresponding to the number of processes. Additionally, if there are shapes with irregularities, the wrinkle suppression structure of the mold may not be placed appropriately, leading to the occurrence of wrinkles and overlaps. We recommend a solution where the inner and outer parts are made as separate components and assembled.
